Same-sex Marriage

I grew up in a family that listened regularly to Dr. James Dobson's Focus on the Family radio show. I remember watching one of his parenting series on the big screen at our church too. He was the Dr. Spock of our evangelical subculture. His books were on everyone's bookshelf. I don't remember Dobson being as political then as he is now, but that may be because my perspective has changed. There's no question that he's become a significant political force in recent years, particularly in his opposition to same-sex marriage.

You should know (if you didn't already) that I disagree with him completely on this issue. For that reason, I was very proud to read my sister's review of the Focus on the Family arguments against same-sex marriage. She was obviously not impressed with their honesty or rationality -- despite her initially ambivalent perspective. For example, she nails Focus on the Family's senior analyst, Glenn Stanton, for obvious quote-mining from the research on same-sex parenting.

Of course, missing from Dr. Dobson's list of reasons for opposing gay marriage is The Real One.

Thank you for disagreeing completely on this issue. Otherwise, I would be forced to crush your head in between my thumb and forefinger!! :-)~
